Ana Otero Bio

Yoga for me is my philosophy of life.  It´s the way I breathe, move, speak, dance, interact, raise my daughter...I started yoga in my early teens and by the age of 19 I was a certified Yoga Teacher.  I then moved on to meet Margot Paccuad in Madrid and I did my European Association Yoga training led by this amazing woman who is no longer with us physically, but her spirit remains with us, with me, constantly.  I also trained under a great master in Spain: Ramiro Calle.  After many years of Hatha Yoga I came to find myself with the wonderful science of Kundalini Yoga and Vinyasa Yoga (certified).  I believe that yoga is a life long path and as one continues to grow, mature, evolve, there is a different style that caters to each moment.

I went to University in Miami where I studied Dance and Education, Masters in Literature and Drama.  At university I met the wonderful dancer and my first mentor Miriam Eli, who introduced me to the amazing and spiritual art of bellydance.  With the Flamenco Dance backround I had already, bellydance just seemed so natural and earthy.  After university I went back to Madrid and I taught Yoga, Bellydance, Flamenco, I found my true expression in movement.  In 2003 my beautiful daughter was born and I took her with me to all of my classes, she became part of my outside world since her first breath.  In 2007 I went to Cairo for 1 year.  I taught yoga there as well.  I performed with the great musician Ali Khatab and with him I started what I call Spirit Dance,  a fusion of Oriental, Flamenco and ethnic world dance.  I link Spirit Dance closely to yoga as I focus on the breath, on movement, on consciousness, on being aware and present.  After I finished my PHD I moved first to Kuwait then to the Emirates.  In Kuwait I taught at BAIA (British Academy of International Arts). In Dubai I came to mature and evolve in my yoga into what I call Kundalini Shakti Dance, the yoga of movement, the yoga of Dance.  In Dubai, I taught Vinyasa, Kundalini, Kundalini Shakti Dance, Creative movement to children, Flamenco, Oriental, and Spirit Dance at Zen Yoga, Rotana, The Shelter and at Bradenton Prep Academy.

I currently have a home studio as well as teach at different venues and studios, and I travel around the world to teach workshops.  I have taught workshops in Dubai, Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, Portugal, Spain, Egypt, and the US.

Love and Light,
Ana Otero
